Marriage offers numerous benefits, yet it also comes with occasional challenges. As we become increasingly acquainted with our partner, we tend to become more candid in our conversations.
My mother’s advice has always stuck with me: “If you can’t say something nice, it’s best to say nothing at all.” This can be a bit tricky when you’re married and have a clever, yet potentially sharp remark in mind.
However, it’s worth noting that if everyone always stuck to being polite, we’d miss out on the chance to enjoy some genuinely hilarious jokes. Here’s a prime example of such a joke.
A man and his wife are at a high school reunion and the husband keeps staring at a gorgeous drunken lady swigging her gin at a nearby table, glass after glass.
His wife turns to him and asks,
“Do you know her?”
“Yes,” sighs the husband.
She’s my ex-wife.
She took to drinking right after we divorced seven years ago, and I hear she hasn’t been sober since.”
“My God!” says the wife.
“Who would think a person could go on celebrating for that long?”
